Almost throwaway berber carpet restored in Afton, WY with our very low moisture cleaning process.

Pattern berber carpet. Too many stains to list. This is during the pre-vacuuming process that we do on EVERY job. I like to clean material, not dirt.
We have cleaned a lot of berber carpet lately.  Berber is one of those carpet types that everyone thinks they will love until they have it, then they move on to other types.  It really is a pain in the back side in this part of the country.  Berber cannot take on soil and live for very long.  It gets saturated with dirt, the friction from walking and normal foot traffic cuts and damages the fiber loops and then it lays down flat and looks dirty, but it just in reality fiber crush.  I always like to show a client the carpet after it has been cleaned from the angle that the sun hits it directly, so that they can see that it is clean, then take them to the other side of the room so that they can see the shadow.  They are always perplexed.  Either way, back to berber.  The new very low moisture carpet cleaning process that we are implementing here in Wyoming at Restore Your Carpet is continuing to amaze me.  At first when I bought this machine, I would only use it on a carpet that looked clean, just needed a maintenance cleaning.  I would use my truckmount on the real rat nasties.  However as time has gone on and I have become more comfortable with the chemicals, and the process in general, I must admit that the truckmount has sat in the driveway in the other company truck collecting dust...  Sorry Amtex.

The carpet that we cleaned today in Afton, WY at first glance was ruined.  There were multiple pet stains(urine, vomit), and of course the black puddle of ground-in grease in front of the couch.  You can see in the picture above the grease puddle near the top just below the really clean spot where the couch had been.  Down to the bottom left, you can see the urine spots, they look salty in the middle.  The upstairs carpet along with the stairs looked equally bad, but I failed to take pictures of them today.  The very low moisture carpet cleaning process that we are doing here in Wyoming does a fabulous job at cleaning berber.  Here are some pictures to prove it...

After shot. This picture needs no explanation. Can you believe that we only used 1.5 gallons of water to get it this clean?

Urine stains are gone, grease spots are gone, and this carpet looked and smelled amazing.

Same area, different angle. You can see where the berber has come apart in the middle of the room.
There are a lot of carpet cleaning companies in Wyoming, but how many of them could do this with only 1.5 gallons of water?  This new very low moisture cleaning process from Restore Your Carpet is a game changer in this industry, and we are excited to offer it to all of our current and future clients.  If you or anyone else you know is considering replacing your carpet, whether it is berber, or any other fiber type, give us a call, we may have another option for you(that sentence had a lot of commas).

Pets stains & resoiling issues.

9/23/2012

This carpet is old. 15-20+ years old. It was completely hammered.
This post is about pet stains and odors on a plush-type carpet in Jackson Hole, WY.  I received a phone call from who is now one of my favorite clients, stating that she was not sure if the carpet in her home was salvageable.  She designed the home years ago, lived in it, then rented it out, now is moving back in and doing some renovating.  Walking into this house for the first time, I noticed that there had been some pet odor damage.  It was not the worst I have experienced, but it was definitely in the replacement stage.  I walked into this room pictured above, and these next shots are what I saw...

Due to the age of the carpet, and after calculating the total cost to completely restore this carpet, I informed the client that it would be best to just replace it, however I would clean it for $x.xx amount of dollars.  The potential problems with this carpet are like most pet damage carpet cleaning jobs.
1)The pad should be replaced.
2)The subfloor(if made of wood) should be sealed with our special floor/odor barrier sealer.
3)If the items from 1 & 2 are not done, the pet stains will almost always re-soil.
Re-soiling is when the carpet backing/carpet pad is still wet after the carpet fibers have dried, and since wet wants to always find dry, the fibers will wick-back the stains out of the backing.  A few posts ago, I showed how the carpet cleaning process goes for severe pet damage.  That process includes completely saturating the carpet fibers and backing to make sure that the stains and odor sources are removed.  If it is not done in this way, I can bet you a prime rib dinner that it will re-soil.  This client wanted a dollars and cents job done with the understanding that this re-soiling could happen.  She said that if it re-soiled, that she would just dye the whole room!  So I cleaned it, with all of this in mind and we deodorized it really well.  I texted her a few days after to ask how it looked, and she said that sure enough, the stains had re-soiled, but the house smelled fresh and there was no trace of the pet odors like before.  I asked her if she wanted to dye it still, and she said that she wanted to.  I then told her about my new very low moisture carpet cleaning process, and that I wanted to try it out on her room to see if it would work, and that I would do it at my expense.  The very low moisture carpet cleaning process offered by Restore Your Carpet, does not use enough water/steam to cause a re-soiling problem, and since the odor problem was already taken care of, what did we have to lose?  I did not take a picture of the re-soiled condition, but it did not look much better than the before shots in this post.  I felt bad actually when I saw it, because although I had told her that it would re-soil, I felt that due to the cost of the initial cleaning, the results should have been better.  I like to think that the client needs all of the available information going into a job so that they can make an informed decision.  This job was no different, this was not a normal carpet cleaning job, so we charged more for the extra processes and chemicals that we used.  I guess the bottom line is, she made the decision.  Anyways, the carpet turned out great.  The next picture is what it looked like when I left the second time, only this time it was totally dry and what you see below is the finished product.

After grooming shot. This carpet is old, but it looks great now.
It really turned out great!  It shines, its soft, smells great, and no stains.  The very low moisture carpet cleaning process that Restore Your Carpet offers is really impressive.  These types of situations are why I love my job.  I walk into a mess, and leave with a very happy client, and a new friend.

Pet hair removal from carpet.

9/9/2012

Picture
This post is about the specialized equipment that we use to remove pet hair from carpets.  As you look at the middle of this room, can you see the pet hair?  Of course not.  However the carpet does look saturated with soils and has a balled up look to it.  Around the edges you can see some hair balls that the machine has pulled out that are still lying on the floor.

Picture
Here is another shot after the carpet has been scrubbed entirely.  Normal carpet cleaning with a wand will NOT pull this hair out like our CRB machine will.  Not even our ROTOVAC 360 will get this much hair out.  We vacuumed this carpet with a really expensive/high performance RICCAR vacuum before deep scrubbing it and still did not get this much out.  We do charge extra for this service, but in terms of how the carpet looks, feels, and most importantly...smells!

If you or anyone else you know has some carpet that looks dingy and hairy and you want it fixed, give us a call, we can Restore Your Carpet.
